Cancer is a serious condition that can only be defeated by vigilance on our health with early detection of warning signs. Here, we have listed some symptoms to be on the lookout for. (Remember, having these doesn't mean you have cancer, it's just probably a good idea to contact your doctor for more help.) * Unintentional weight loss: Excessive loss of weight without trying. * Difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath: Any problems with breathing over a while can be concerning. * Persistent cough: Usually coughing for over 6 weeks or coughing up blood. * Diarrhoea and/or Constipation: Especially if these go on for long periods and alternate. * Unusual moles: New moles/growths on your skin or old ones getting larger and bleeding or forming wounds. * Blood in urine or faeces: Especially over long periods. * Unexplained vaginal bleeding: Especially after menopause. * Unusual lumps or bumps anywhere: Any new lump in any part of your body especially your breast, groin area or neck. * Unhealing wounds: Over a long time, especially with any changes in the skin around. * Heavy night sweats: Especially if no one who lives around you has same symptoms. * Hoarseness: Feeling hoarse for a long period which is unresolving might be a sinister sign. * Indigestion and heartburn: Feeling of bloatedness and indigestion over long periods that do not resolve with use of antacids might be suspicious especially in persons over the age of 45 years. * Extreme tiredness: Persistent feeling of tiredness which doesn't improve even with rest should prompt a visit to the doctor's office. * Persistent dizziness: Feeling dizzy with/without fainting spells or period of blackouts might indicate low blood levels which can in turn be a danger sign to watch for.
